A baccalaureate degree at University of Saint Joseph requires the completion of a minimum of 120 credit-hours of course work (contingent upon requirement of major), which includes completion of all requirements for a major in addition to completion of general education requirements, completion of comprehensive examination and the Writing Portfolio.
Mission (12 credits):
One First-Year Seminar course (FYS)* 3 credits
Two Religious Studies courses (RE)* 6 credits
One Philosophy course (PH)** 3 credits
* for students entering with 24 or more credits transferring, the FYS course is waived, only one 3 credit RE course is required.
** The PH requirement is waived for transfer students entering with 24 or more credits transferring if a VE requirement is met in Perspectives.
Liberal Arts and Sciences (35-36 credits):
The Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) requirement may be fulfilled with courses from the major or from the Common Foundations and/or Perspectives. No more than 2 approved major courses may be applied.
A minimum of 18 credits should be at the 200-level or higher, and no more than three courses in one discipline may be used. LAS electives do not generally consist of courses in ACCT, MGMT, NURS, EDUC, & SOCW.
